Elan g! Home Automation Presents: Traveler’s Ultimate Home

There are many benefits to home automation, but the key in designing a system is based on your lifestyle and the ability to easily live and manage your home. This Elan g! system can offer something for everyone. This home in Mundelein displays 8 flat panel TVs, whole home video distribution with all the equipment located in basement, HVAC control, full basement and outdoor lighting integration, security package, and a state-of-the-art communication system. All features of the system can be controlled through an Apple iPad or an iPhone, whether you are in or out of the home.

Let’s take a tour through the home:

Front Door & Guest Entrance:

Elan’s C2 Communication Controller, combined with the door station shown below, allows the home owner ultimate flexibility for new visitors. When a guest approaches the front door and presses the doorbell, all music in the home mutes and the door chimes through all the speakers. From your home phone, you can easily talk to your guest and tell them, “I’ll be right there.”

The communication controller offers many other features including whole home paging, door trigger release, and room-to-room intercom.

To the Basement We Go:

The newly finished basement offers space for everyone. From the workout area, full bath, guest bedroom, full kitchen and bar, large entertaining area, and sewing room, you have everything you need right in front of you.

The Home Theater Area includes a 65” Samsung LED Flat Panel TV with full 7.1 In-ceiling speaker package from Niles. These directional speakers give the great sound and feel of a home theater with a very clean, streamlined look. The subwoofer is located in the wall to the left of the area for a clean design and functionality. No one likes seeing a subwoofer on the floor!

The basement includes a fully integrated lighting system from lutron, as well as the 7” in-wall Elan touch panel located to the left of the sconce.

The basement bar and full kitchen offers a 26” LED flat panel mounted on an articulating mount for full flexibility. This works great for viewing multiple games or different channels on the two basement TVs for any event.

Here is the basement command center! Not only can you control all of the four basement TVs and 19 In-ceiling speakers from this touchpanel; you can also navigate the entire home and turn off all electronics not in use.

Elan’s Unique System Home Page gives you a 7-day forecast, as well as current weather conditions and a full calendar. From the home screen you can create automated system modes from whether you are at home, going to bed, leaving for the night, or going on vacation. With a simple button press, the home will transform into a self running machine.

HVAC Integration allows you to control your heating and cooling system whether you are home or away. With the easy scheduling feature, you are able to set present temperatures depending on the time, day, and whether you are home or not for maximizing your energy efficiency. The panel even gives you the ability to go back in time for statistics of the outside temperature and home temperature down to the exact minute and day.

Lighting integration allows you to easily control all the switches in your home from a single button push. At this home in Mundelein, you can control all the basement lighting, whether it is on or off or pressed on “Entertain” or “Party” mode and see all the lights go to present levels for entertaining.

The schedule feature allows this home to turn on and off the outdoor lighting depending on astronomical clock and what time the sun rises and sets. It can also allow the home’s lighting to turn on and off when you are on vacation to give the appearance that someone is at the home. Remember: these features are controllable whether you are home or away from the simple button press on your iPad through your Elan g! application.

All 8 TVs and the home’s 32 speakers can be controlled from a single touchpanel. You can change channels on your cable box, navigate your iPad, or listen to Pandora in any room of the home. If you left a TV upstairs in the office turned on, you can easily turn that off from your basement touchpanel and see exactly what TV in the home is watching what source. The keypad allows you to select bar and turn on ESPN, and then select kitchen and turn on ABC 7.

The workout room includes a 40” Samsung LED flat panel TV with all the equipment located in the rack. The easy-to-use universal remote allows you to navigate cable box 1, cable box 2, or multiple Blue-Ray players throughout the home, so you can always find what you are looking for. If you recorded a show in the bedroom and want to watch it while running – no problemo! – just select the cable box and watch your show. No need to have messy equipment in the room!

Not to mention, the workout machines are very loud, so the in-ceiling speakers located directly above you make it very easy to hear your favorite TV program.

The sewing room/office offers a 26” Samsung LED with 2 In-ceiling speakers for either watching TV or listen to music while paying bills or seeming your favorite outfit.

Back upstairs to the main living area of the home: the family room features an on-wall Sony 52” flat panel with full in-ceiling surround sound system. Again, all components are located in the basement, so there is no need for clutter. The cabinetry to the right of the TV can be used for storage of books or knick-knacks without having to worry about audio-video components. For flexibility, there is a Blu-Ray player located on this floor that can be watched in any room of the home.  All these products are controlled through a very easy-to-use universal remote control.

The kitchen features a 26” LCD Flat panel with 2 in-ceiling speakers for watching TV or listening to music. You have your choice of the two cable boxes located in the rack or a Blu-Ray movie for your viewing pleasure while cooking or cleaning. You’re not the TV type? Throw on some tunes and clean to your favorite music. Turn the corner and you have another Elan touchpanel.

Application Time: Let’s say your spouse is in the basement, and it is time for dinner. You yell downstairs and they cannot hear you because the music is to loud.  No problem! Pick up the phone, press #7, the music mutes and you can talk to the basement and announce “Dinner’s Ready!”

The office and master bedroom both feature flat panel TVs, speakers, and easy-to-use universal remotes with no components or cable boxes located anywhere. You can start watching a recorded program while you are in your office replying to E-mails, pause it, and pick it up again in the bedroom as you get ready for bed. Elan makes their system customizable for the individual and Hooked Up Installs installation is perfect.

The head end of your custom programmed automation system is a thing of beauty. This equipment closet with temperature controlled fan houses your two Comcast cable boxes, Samsung blu ray player, two Denon AV receivers, and all the amplification to power the speakers throughout your home.

This is where your system integrates to your music, HVAC, lighting, security, and communication station. You close the door and it vanishes!

With the Panamax Internet-based power center, troubleshooting is a cinch. Ever had the cable box fail? Does the component need to be restarted? No worries: your Hooked Up Installs professional can log in and remotely reboot your system. This takes the troubleshooting off your hands and delivers instant fixes to any issues you may have.

As you leave your home simply press the Away button and your home transforms. All your TVs and speakers turn off, your lights dim, the thermostat changes to an energy-saving mode, and you are ready to leave.

But wait: if you forgot to put the home in away mode before you left, just pull out your iPhone and hit Away on your way to your destination.  The home will still transform!
