On the 2012 Spotlight: Hot Accessories and Gadgets For Your Home Theater

The 2012 Consumer Electronics Show may be over, but that doesn’t mean that we here at Hooked Up Installs have run out of hot accessories and gadgets to spotlight. Onwards we go! This week, we check out some awesome new tech toys and tools for your home theater.

JVC NX-BX3

If you still haven’t gotten yourself a speaker dock for your iPhone or iPod, then it might be worth checking out the new JVC NX-BX3, which – apart from serving as just a dock – offers an elegant and space-conscious home theater sound solution. It includes a 60-watt amp, a pair of 8cm and 30cm speakers, an FM tuner, SRS StudioSound HD technology, and an integrated stand. But the coolest thing about the JVC NX-BX3 is that it’s designed as a piece of table furniture: you can literally put your things – a flower vase, a lamp, your books, a cup of coffee – on top of the dock.

Samsung Super OLED TV

Remember the jaw-dropping OLED HDTVs we reported on from CES last month? They’re coming to select UK home theaters very soon – well, at least Samsung OLEDs, that is. The manufacturer announced that the 55-inch Samsung Super OLED TV is expected to be available sometime this spring. The OLED HDTV features an ultra-slim frame, a narrow bezel, an OLED panel with tiny red, green, and blue pixels, 3D capability, and a built-in camera and microphone for enabling face and voice recognition technologies. (No more remotes!)

Onkyo TX-NR1009 AV Receiver

If you’re looking to upgrade your home theater with a new AV receiver – and if you have the budget for a true powerhouse – then look no farther than Onkyo’s impressive TX-NR1009. The 9.2-channel network AV receiver transforms your living room or home theater into an immersive entertainment space, and features THX® Select2 Plus™ certification, DTS Neo:X™ surround sound technology, network capability (for Internet radio and audio streaming), and amazing video processing capabilities via HQV® Vida™ VHD1900 and ISF. The price? $1,399, but it’s a worthy buy if you want to stand out amidst today’s mediocre receiver offerings.
