Beautiful Home Theater Designs from Apartment Therapy
One of the most popular lifestyle and living blogs right now is Apartment Therapy, founded in 2004 by brothers Maxwell Gillingham-Ryan and Oliver Ryan. The blog features all kinds of guides, tips, mood boards, and photos involving apartments (from décor and interior design to home furnishings, tech gear, green living, and home theater installations), and has since come to embody its tagline: “Saving the world, one room at a time.”
We recently paid Apartment Therapy a visit and checked out some of the beautiful home theater designs and ideas featured in the blog. Here’s what we found:

What did author Chris Perez need to transform this uninspired black and white home theater into a bright, lively, and colorful home entertainment space? Well – just a bit of vinyl electrical tape and some self-adhesive lime green vinyl sheets. He pasted these instead of painting the cabinet above the HDTV, and we just love how straight those lines look!
Are your tech toys and gear compromising the mood and look of your home theater space? Worry not. Take the cue from this apartment for two inSweden, which integrates technology seamlessly with the minimalist-inspired living space. (See the wires? We didn’t think so.) There’s a well-equipped system, to be sure, but the components are all installed in a way that highlights finer, prettier details: the painting, the colorful floor rug, the golden orb thing, and the awesome David Bowie album cover.
Love DIY? Here’s a nice little project to consider for your home theater room: the transformation of a dozen wood shipping pallets into a cozy home theater seating setup, complete with the comforts of cushions and pillows.
We’ve got to admit: the custom-built coffee table in this traditionalQuebeccountry house looks jaw-droppingly nice. But what makes it a thousand times cooler is that it flips open to reveal an elegant little home theater setup, with a nice LCD screen and, below it, a trio of home theater components.
Apartment Therapy readers sent this in: a beautiful, creative media and entertainment space that includes a 32-inch VIZIO LCD HDTV and a plywood media wall (on which are posted canvas prints) as its focal points. The system may not be as sophisticated as that of hardcore home theater enthusiasts, but it still stands out for its simplicity, personal touches, and mood-evoking feel.
